Motorola Announces Five New Products
The MOTOKRZR meets and surpasses the MOTORAZR standard for slimness, with more than a centimeter shaved off its width. Showcasing a multi-dimensional, metallic gloss finish for visual depth, the MOTOKRZR exhibits subtle elegance through magnesium, polished chrome and hardened glass. The solid piece of glass on the front of the phone – a technological first for a large volume mobile – results in a high-gloss luster balancing the velvet-like soft touch finish on the back.
Matching the sleek silhouette of MOTOKRZR, Motorola’s first GSM slider, the MOTORIZR handset diversifies the company’s product line-up – giving consumers the ability to slide rather than flip. Although the product showcases a new form, it remains true to Motorola’s design ethos with tactile, metallic and soft-touch finishes, a chemically-etched spun metal keypad and optional tattoo graphics.
Ron Garriques, President Mobile Devices at Motorola, says, “As we set one industry milestone, we’re instantly focused on delivering the next. With MOTOKRZR and MOTORIZR we’ve achieved a new combination of thin and rich – honoring our commitment to design while adding new form factors and additional features.”
Motorola MOTOKRZR
Available in both GSM and CDMA, the MOTOKRZR will be available globally during the second half of 2006, regardless of their network preference. The GSM MOTOKRZR features a high resolution 2.0 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth audio, an updated phone directory and new messaging applications. While both versions offer integrated music players and expandable memory up to 1GB, the CDMA MOTOKRZR beats to a slightly different drum boasting touch-sensitive music controls, advanced EVDO data services* and location-based services capabilities.
Motorola MOTORIZR
Merging an innovative slider design with an impressive feature set which is accessible either opened or closed, the MOTORIZR offers intuitive functionality. This slider optimizes on-the-go imaging with its expansive landscape display, 2.0 megapixel camera and programmed point-and-shoot keys. The built-in music player supports a variety of formats and its video capabilities complete this dynamic package.
Motorola H601 and H800
Reflecting the new handsets look and feel, the Motorola H601 and H800 Bluetooth headsets bring advancements in talk time, sound clarity, upgraded finishes and laser-etched graphics. Influenced by MOTOKRZR, the Motorola H601 is sleek and functional, offering optimal comfort. The Motorola H800 debuts with a unique sliding mechanism replicating the MOTORIZR. Both offerings exemplify how Motorola extends its design philosophy across its entire portfolio.

Nokia opens Asia's first Flagship Store in Hong Kong
Find Out More
Pioneer will begin shipping the world’s first 50” 1080p plasma display today.
The challenge in creating a 50-inch plasma display with a 1080p signal was to reduce the pixel size by half in order to fit more than 2 million pixels in the screen. Pioneer used its 15 years experience developing plasma technology to manufacture the world’s smallest pixels measuring .576 millimeters which results in a stunning on-screen picture. The depth of picture, particularly when viewing original content in 1080p/24Hz, such as a movie on Blu-ray Disc, gives a truly 3-D effect. Viewers can see tiny beads of sweat on an athlete’s face as well as the stitches on the football as it flies through the air. Some say it makes it easier to tell when the lead actor takes a break and lets the stunt double take over.
A high precision video scaler is used to up-convert 480i, 720p, 720i and 1080i signals to 1080p, increasing the resolution and virtually eliminating the interlacing motion artifacts seen in some other displays. The display also relies on Pioneer’s many proprietary technologies including deep encased cell structure, crystal emissive layer and improved phosphors to create the sharpest, brightest images with excellent color accuracy.
The Pioneer Elite® PureVision™ PRO-FHD1 is now available at specialty retailers for a suggested price of $10,000.
Pioneer's Home Entertainment and Business Solutions Group is a leading manufacturer of plasma televisions and monitors, Blu-ray Disc® and DVD products, A/V receivers, speakers and other audio and video accessories. Its focus is on the development of new digital technologies including Digital Network Entertainment™. The company markets its products under the Pioneer and Pioneer Elite® brand names. When purchased from an authorized dealer, consumers receive a limited warranty for one year with Pioneer products and two years with Pioneer Elite products.

LG’s ‘Chocolate’ Becomes Worldwide Phenomenon
Mr. Mun-Hwa Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said, “The Chocolate phone is for discerning customers, in every market worldwide, who view mobile phones as fashion statements. LG is now positioning its mobile handsets as premium products and this stunning phone is just the beginning. The global launch has been extremely successful and we are already seeing a flood of reorders.”
More than half a million Chocolate Phones have been sold worldwide in the four weeks since the global launch in London, where the phone has already sold out. Retailers there are anxiously awaiting additional shipments, and there are long waiting lists of customers with a craving for Chocolate. The phone has also taken the No. 1 best seller position at Carphone Warehouse, the largest European mobile phone retail chain. It also took the top sales spot in Mexico, with 25% market share, beating Motorola’s Razr when it was launched there. Saudi retailers have already signed numerous pre-release sales contracts for the phone, anticipating a huge demand. It is no wonder why the Chocolate phone was chosen for the cover of Swedish mobile phone specialty magazine Mobil, which touted it as the next million unit seller after Razr.
The Chocolate Phone’s success results from the combination of its excellent design, marketing and a proactive sales strategy. LG has hired Colleen McLoughlan, fashion icon and girlfriend of premier leaguer Wayne Rooney, as UK’s primary Chocolate phone ambassador. She mentioned, “The LG Chocolate phone is working as an accessory for any outfit. It’s unique, sleek and exactly the right size to pop into any handbag for any occasion. The black and red theme really makes this phone stand out and the touch sensitive buttons make it beautiful.”
The Chocolate phones have also been presented as gifts for celebrities like Pierce Brosnan, Gwyneth Paltrow and Claudia Shiffer in London launch event. The strategy to position the phone in the luxury market was a great success. In Taiwan, a huge buzz was created prior to the launch event, because of a massive outdoor advertising campaign, and buzz among bloggers. LG use of locale tailored marketing strategies and securing of sales channels through major retailers, led to the incredible sales success.
Though the Chocolate phone phenomenon is expected to continue for the time being, LG is already planning the next move to secure its premium position in global mobile industry, now being established.

STAY COOL THIS SUMMER WITH FUJIFILM'S NEW FINEPIX Z3
Continuing its history of developing digital cameras that look as good as the pictures they take, Fujifilm today announced the launch of the FinePix Z3, the latest model in Fujifilm's slim and stylish Z-Series of digital cameras and the successor to the FinePix Z1.
With an updated body and a new, funky second color – metallic blue – to go along with the traditional silver, the FinePix Z3 appeals to the most fashion-conscious consumer searching for an ultra-portable digicam that looks good as it takes great pictures.
Taking memorable, high-quality photographs while out on the town with friends at a restaurant or other nighttime spot is a challenging exercise for any owner of a compact digital camera. These picture-worthy moments often are snapped in close proximity to the subject and in low light, conditions that can lead to blurry photos, 'washed out' subjects and backgrounds lacking in detail.
With a 6th generation, 5.1 MegaPixel Super CCD sensor and a 2nd generation RP (Real Photo) Processor on board, the delete button may be one of the least-used controls on the FinePix Z3. The controls that will spell the end for those spoiled shots include:
Picture Stabilization
The FinePix Z3 combines higher light sensitivities (up to ISO 1600) with faster shutter speeds to stabilize pictures and reduce blur caused by both camera shake and subject movement. To make it easy for FinePix Z3 users to achieve blur-free results, Fujifilm has added a convenient 'Picture Stabilization' button to the FinePix Z3.
i-Flash
The FinePix Z3's Intelligent-Flash system, or "i-Flash", is more advanced than similar flash systems because it can detect more accurately the subtle lighting differences within a scene, and then light the subject accordingly with a variety of flash intensities. If the subject is off center and standing under a streetlight, the i-Flash system will correct the exposure automatically. i-Flash leads to pictures with more natural looking subjects and backgrounds that are full of bright and crisp detail.
"Natural Light" Shooting Mode
This mode preserves the scene mood and enhances background detail by shooting with faster shutter speeds at higher light sensitivities (if necessary) with a suppressed flash. This mode is perfect for low light moments that would otherwise be ruined by a powerful flash or situations where the use of flash is inappropriate.
Users can also experience the benefits of Natural Light through a feature called the 'Dual Shooting Mode'. In this mode the FinePix Z3 quickly shoots two images in rapid succession – one with and one without the flash – saving both. This convenient function, which is unique to Fujifilm digital cameras, allows for an on-the-spot picture comparison by the user, who can decide which photo is preferred.
In addition to these innovations, the FinePix Z3 has a number of other noteworthy features:
A reinforced, scratch-resistant, 2.5-inch LCD with a 230,000-pixel resolution and Fujifilm's glare-reducing CV Film for better viewing in direct light.
A high-quality, non-extending, refractive 3x optical zoom lens from Fujinon that keeps the FinePix Z3 thin.
Fourteen pre-programmed scene positions that trigger optimal settings based on the surrounding conditions.
VGA movie recording of 30 frames per second with sound.
The FinePix Z3 features 10MB of internal memory, a convenient feature that ensures extra storage space should the user want to squeeze in a couple of additional shots once their xD Picture Card is full.
"The FinePix Z3 has combined Fujifilm's rich photographic legacy with the style and sophistication that made the FinePix Z1 such a popular digital camera," explained David Troy, Senior Product Manager, Consumer Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "With industry leading innovations such as Picture Stabilization and the i-Flash system, along with its sleek design and cool new color, the FinePix Z3 is sure to turn heads."
The FinePix Z3 will debut in July 2006 at a retail price of $279.95.
